Richard J FranklinRichard J. Frankland is an accomplished singer/songwriter and filmmaker from Gunditjmara country, south west Victoria.
He has written and directed award winning films (No Way to Forget/ Harry’s War), award winning plays (Conversations with the Dead) and award winning songs (Who Killed Malcolm Smith?). Many of Richard's stories are based on his experiences as a Field Officer during the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody. When not making films and writing, Richard plays in a band called The Charcoal Club. Their recent CD is called Cry Freedom. Richard's debut novel, entitled Digger J. Jones (Scholastic Australia), tells the story of a young Koorie boy growing up in Melbourne during the year of the referendum, 1967. Richard has recently completed filming his debut feature film titled To Hell and Back which will screen in Australia in 2008.
